Hi everyone, my name is Kat and 6 months ago my partner and I decided to expand our family and adopt a second puppy. We went through the same rescue I got my older dog Molly (sitting on the couch in the photo) from. We came across a litter of Catahoula Leopard Dogs that were recently rescued, they were found abandoned in a den with their mom. We saw our little blue eyed guy and were instantly in love, so we decided to proceed and 4 weeks later we had a brand new puppy with us. We decided to name him Maximus (Max for short). Max is now 8 months old and he’s so full of life, he’s a happy go-lucky kinda guy and such a spunky boy. He loves to play with his sister Molly and run super fast at the park, Max is super smart and knows lots of tricks. He’s very eager to please and learn, he’s also a very cuddly boy and very attached to us. However this week has been awful for us as we found out that he may have a chronic illness. He has fluid in him tummy, a high blood cell count and has lost a ton of weight. He was admitted into the hospital today and we don’t know when he’ll get to come home. Obviously the cost of this and it being so close to the holidays has completely knocked us off our feet. We took on the commitment of helping this dog and providing care for him when we signed the adoption agreement. He’s only 8 months old, he has so much life to live and we will do anything we can to help him. But it’s very strenuous financially, and we would be so so grateful if you’re able to contribute to help us get Max the care he needs. This is not a post I ever thought I would make. Our dogs mean the world to us and we want the absolute best for them. Any donation helps, no matter how small.
Thank you & God Bless
MAX UPDATE:
Max has been diagnosed with chronic inflammation in his belly enlarged nymph nodes and irritable bowel syndrome. His Addisons test is still pending. He is off of his pain medications and should be able to continue treatment at home. He will require antibiotics, possible steroids, probiotics, and a special food from the vet. If he doesn’t improve or start gaining weight he will require surgery to have a biopsy done of his intestines and lymph nodes, as well as removing his testicle which are in his abdomen (he’s a crypt orchid). We’re hopeful that with the right medication and diet Maxi can lead a normal life. The fundraiser will still be open and all the funds raised will go towards cover his medical bills and upcoming surgery (which will need to take place it’s just a matter of when).
We thank you for your ongoing support and love ❤️
