Last week Larry got into something toxic and was vomiting uncontrollably for 24 hours. We thought the worst was over as he seemed to be back to his normal, joyful, playful self. Then last night he woke me up in a shivering panic. He was experiencing blockage, a painful abdomen that made him yelp in pain upon touch. His eyes glazed over and rolled back in his head and his breathing became labored. I knew it was bad when he didn't even lift his head for food. 

After much inquiry and advice from our normal veterinarian, we went to the emergency vet hospital.  Five hours,  three x-rays, blood work and pain medicine later we are now home in recovery. Larry will heal slowly over the next two weeks and we will need more x-rays once the antibiotics are over.

Larry is my world and even though he is approaching senior status he is only 8 years old. He has been my rock through many life changes and this past year of sheltering he has been my inspiration. I did not hesitate to help him when he needed me most. But like many of you, I have been without work for the past year and try to be self sufficient.
