My name is Meghan McFarland. I am the neice of Vance McFarland, who recently passed away sunday January 4th, 2016. He had COPD for awhile now, his lungs just couldn't keep up anymore and gave out on him. He stopped breathing and was non-responsive by the time medics arrived. Even though we all knew he had COPD, we never expected him to be gone so fast... too fast. So fast no one really got to tell him goodbye.
Vance and his wife Jeanie McFarland are retired and living on a fixed income provided by social security. He never had a lot of money, but he always managed to get by on close to nothing at times. He never let it get him down. Unfortunately though, since he didn't have a lot of money, he never got around to purchasing any life insurance.
We would really like to have a memorial service that all his friends and family can attend to. As popular and loved as Vance was, I think he would really like that also. So the reason I'm setting up this go fund me account, is to try raise money for our family to help cover his funeral expenses. With it being right after the holidays and such an unexpected death none of his family members have enough money to cover the expenses.
I know I set a goal for $6,000, I'm not really sure the funeral costs yet. We have an appointment on friday with newcomer funeral home to discuss the details. However, I don't want anyone to feel pressure about giving more than they want to because every little bit will help.
In closing, it really would mean a lot to us, his family, and im sure his friends too, if we could raise enough money to have one last chance to say our goodbyes to Vance. He was a good man, who touched a lot of lives and put smiles on many faces. He deserves a proper service and his family is going to do everything in their power to try to make sure this happens. I would like to thank everyone in advance for your time and generosity in this time of need.
