Jessica's Accident Recovery

Donation protected
Hello, we've decided to start this GoFundMe in hopes of raising funds that will be useful for helping Jessica as she recovers from the horrific car accident she was recently involved in.

Jessica is a young 22 year old from Dennis Township who loves spending time with her friends and family. She has been a dedicated employee at the Avalon Acme location for several years, having worked there throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, and up until the accident that has forced her to not return for the foreseeable future.

Jessica's life was completely turned upside down on Tuesday August 9th. She was the front seat passenger in a vehicle that was involved in a horrific head on collision around 7pm that evening. Jessica took most of the impact of the crash and was the most severely injured of all the patients. After being extricated from the car via the JAWS of Life she was medevaced to Cooper University Hospital. Jessica suffered horrible internal injuries to organs in her lower abdomen, a broken arm and a badly broken ankle, all requiring surgery. Emergency, life saving surgery was first done on her abdomen to stop the internal bleeding and to temporarily repair what damage they could to get her stable. Jess spent the next day intubated and sedated in the ICU with her abdomen left open in preparation for the second surgery. Two days later, after becoming stable enough, surgeons took Jess back to the operating room to further repair her badly damaged internal organs. The surgery went well and they were able to close her abdomen at that point. As a result of the internal bleeding and blood loss she experienced, Jess needed several blood transfusions both during and after her surgeries. Just a short couple of days after these life saving surgeries she was again back in the operating room to have her broken arm and very badly broken ankle repaired. Both of those surgeries also went well. Jess was recently told that she also has a small fracture in her spine L7 that will need to be monitored.

We'd like to raise these funds for Jessica to help alleviate some of the immediate financial burden she is already experiencing due to being out of work and for the modifications she's having to make to accommodate her new way of life. Right now she is mostly confined to bed, completely reliant on others, until her ankle and other injuries heal enough for her to begin physical therapy. We appreciate any donations that can take some of this added stress off of her. However well wishes, prayers, and positive healing vibes are still welcomed and equally appreciated. We asked for them when the accident first happened and many of you who have never even met Jess showed her love and we truly believe she felt it. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! She has a long road that has been and will be bumpy at times both physically and mentally. With the continued support of keeping her in your thoughts we know that, even if it takes her awhile, she's going to get back to as close to 100% as she can.

We'd also like to thank the Dennis Volunteer Fire Company volunteers that safely got Jessica out of the car. Inspira EMS for safely transporting her to the medevac landing zone. The medevac crew for safely flying her to Cooper. The emergency room doctors and nurses who first encountered her. The surgeons and operating room staff that worked for hours to put a very broken girl back together. The orthopedic surgeon and staff that repaired her broken bones. The nurses that continued with her care throughout her stay in the hospital. Forever grateful and thankful for these heroes who have dedicated their lives to do everything in their power to make sure a loved one returns to her family.
