Dave and Renee Cohen Flood Relief

Please help me support my brother David Cohen, his wife Renee, and their two daughters. Dave and Renee live in the Meyerland neighborhood of Houston, which was devastated by flooding on Monday, May 25th. During the storms, Brays Bayou overflowed as seen below. The water from the bayou included untreated wastewater from a treatment plant that lost power upstream. My brother's family lives directly behind the shopping center in the below photo.


Their house took on almost two feet of water during the night, destroying all the walls, flooring, furniture, and countless personal items.  The girls' room, seen below, shows an example of the damage done.  The dry wall all over the house needed to be removed. The sunken greatroom was filled with water which needed to be pumped out.


Both cars were flooded as well, and the total damage is still being determined. While they do have flood insurance, the out-of-pocket expenses are going to be immense. While in the short-term they are able to stay with friends, they need to find a place to stay while the house is being remediated and rebuilt; to say nothing about replacing all the furniture. Many of my neices' toys were destroyed, and their clothing was soaked in bayou water.
