At three and a half years old, I was diagnosed with high-frequency hearing loss—a condition that isn’t always visible, but shapes everyday experiences in ways people don’t always understand.

I was always capable—but not always understood.

In sports, in music, and in everyday moments, I was often underestimated. But everything changed because of my mom. She reframed my hearing aids as “Hearing Helpers”—tools that helped me hear the birds, the bells, and the world around me. She advocated for me relentlessly and always reminded me that I was nothing but able.

Because of her, I grew up with confidence—not limitation.

Today, I’ve gone on to become an elite volleyball player, a high-level piano player in the Royal Conservatory, and a civil engineering graduate now pursuing a Master’s in Data Science at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. But I know not every child—and not every family—has that same level of support.

That’s why I created the Hearing Helpers Foundation.

We are raising funds to provide scholarships for students who have overcome significant challenges, as well as mentorship, resources, and support for children with hearing loss and their families.
