Dear Friends,
As some of you know, the owners/managers of Hotel Cyvadier Plage in Jacmel, Haiti (my husband Christophe and his mother Margarette Coutard-Kohlbrenner) have funded the SOS Enfants primary school in Jacmel, Haiti since 1998. The existence of this school has provided FREE education to thousands of students who might not have otherwise been able to obtain an education. Tuition fees are one of the highest expenses for households to cover in Haiti, and often children miss school due to this fact.
The teacher salaries and operating funds of SOS Enfants school are paid 100% from the profits of Hotel Cyvadier Plage. However, due to ongoing the political unrest in Haiti resulting in a severe economic crisis, tourism this year has been wiped out, greatly affecting the Hotel's business. Christophe, Margarette and I have created this group to hopefully get friends and acquaintances to raise $18,000 in funding to secure the school's operation the remainder of our school year. This will cover the salaries for the Director/teachers and the few support staff, plus school supplies and nutritious food for the daily meal served. (Please note: this ambitious goal is only part of what has personally been contributed every year to our community school, which averages $24,000/year) However, we believe our friends and Facebook friends can meet this goal together!
