Shannon Grabowski, 23, was diagnosed with Lupus when she was 17 years old.  Lupus is an autoimmune disease that causes damage to the body. Lupus ranges from mild to severe and often times the pain is so unbearable that it affects your daily living. (For more information go to https://www.lupus.org/resources/what-is-lupus

For the past 4 years Shannon, has had numerous doctors visits trying to keep her lupus in a mild state. May 2019 she was shortly diagnosed with cellulitis hospitalizing her for 3 days. Shannon went through multiple tests, scans, and treatments in order to get rid of this infection. However, after she was released from the hospital her lupus began to flare up. Shannon could barely walk, move, get out of bed, or even bathe herself. In June of 2019, doctors began treatments every single day including 60 mg of steroids, IV steroids, lab work everyday, and doctor visits about 5-6 days a week. She had to get a bone marrow biopsy and an echocardiogram, where the doctor announced she had a lot of fluid around her lungs and her heart. A breathing test came back that she was only getting 45% oxygen out of her lungs. As the summer was coming to an end, doctors tried to persuade Shannon to take a break from school. Being the ambitious and fighter that she is Shannon decided to push through this semester and  just drive home each week in order to make all her doctors appointments. Even with her fight against Lupus nothing will hold Shannon back from graduating in May of 2021.

This year has already started off as a fight for Shannon. On January 4th she was hospitalized with fluid still around her lungs and her heart working at a 45%. And She recently had a kidney biopsy which resulted in the doctors deciding to start her on chemotherapy in order to avoid kidney failure. Today Shannon is still in the hospital, with complications due to her Lupus. The doctors still haven’t gotten her lupus back to its mild state, and she is looking to get a second opinion for her treatment option but one thing is standing in her way and that's $15,000 in medical bills.

Shannon just finished  her second to last semester of College with a 4.0 beating the odds and powering through. Despite the constant pain and state that she is in Shannon continues to fight and have such a positive outlook. Shannon deserves to receive  the best care possible and to regain the power over her illness.

Shannon is a strong and determined individual who needs help with her medical expenses. Her insurance will only cover so much and she is about $15,000 dollars in medical debt. We are asking for anyone to make a donation to help cover her medical expenses. And if you can't donate please share the link! Anything helps!!!
