Miracle for Mikey Surgery Fund

Hi there!

My name is Flora and I am here to tell you about my beautiful and amazing little man named Mikey. He is 3 years old and was recently diagnosed with saggital craniosynostosis. We noticed there was something wrong with the shape of his head when he was about 14 months old so we asked our pediatrician about it. We were sent to a neurosurgeon at All Childrens hospital who specializes in neurosurgery. He ran a bunch of tests on Mikey and at first he was sure that Mikey's sutures in the skull had closed way too early but after further testing he found that the sutures were ok. He was baffled at the reason behind the odd shape of Mikey's head that resembled craniosynostosis so he continued monitoring Mikey every 6 months. This monitoring consists of brain scans, Xrays and MRI's of Mikey's skull and brain. Earlier this year after his most recent scans it was found that the sutures have in fact closed prematurely which ,means that Mikey needs surgery so that his brain will have plenty of room to grow. Without room to grow, the pressure in the skull will build up and can cause severe, life altering complications such as seizures, blindness, mental retardation, brain damage, permanent head deformity and many other issues.
The surgery is approximately 8 hours long and must be performed by a neurosurgeon and a craniofacial plastic surgeon. They will cut open his head from ear to ear then cut his skull into several pieces, reshaping it then bolting the pieces back together. He will need to have blood transfusions during this dangerously invasive procedure. Once my little angel has gone through this extensive surgery he will spend a couple days in ICU then be transferred to the main floors where he will spend another 3-5 days recovering. I plan to take time off of work so that he never has to go a minute without his mommy by his side.
The surgery is very expensive as you can imagine and with insurance deductibles and coinsurance I am looking at roughly $10,000  plus out of pocket. We will also need to take a few weeks off of work to be by his side every step of the way! I do not have this kind of money and my husband and I are barely making the bills as it is. We have a total of 4 children ranging from 19-  6 months old. Jasmine (my oldest is finishing her 2nd year of college) Ruby is 11, Mikey is 3 and Mason is 6 months old. I have always been a very hard working individual who does not like to ask for help but being this hopeless when it matters the most is frightening and so here I am crying my eyes out daily begging God for a miracle and asking that my friends, family and anyone who reads this can please find it in their hearts to help an innocent, sweet, loving little boy.
For those of you who know Mikey, he is always so happy and very talkative. He loves horses and he loves to ride and "run" barrels like sissy (even though he was walked on leadline, it is the coolest!) He has so much love to share with the world!
We are doing everything we can to raise the funds to have his surgery. M Performance Horses is hosting a Benefit Barrel race January 30th. There will be a silent auction as well with many items donated from several individuals and coompanies such as Coasties Conchos, Brett Monroe Signature Series Saddles, Upcycle mania by Gin, Schneider Performance Pads, Whaley Cute baby, Baa Baa Baby Boutique, Rustic Elegance, Halo Hats by Tabatha and many others.
It is going to take a lot to reach our goal and we only have a short time so PLEASE help in any way you can...every little bit matters and we are so thankful for all your blessings!! Tons of prayers are also very much appreciated!! I know the Lord hears our cries and feels our pain. I know that he plans to lay his healing hands upon my baby during his surgery. With your help I am sure we can get there!!

Thank you and God Bless!
