Jaxson's Surgery

Jaxson, my 10-year-old pup, was recently diagnosed with cancer. I noticed a lump on his leg that grew quickly. After many visits to the vet for exams and tests, he was diagnosed with soft tissue sarcoma. The vet was concerned because of the location of the tumor, and confirmed that surgery would not result in full removal of the cancer.

Jaxson has had surgery to remove as much of the tumor as possible. He was diagnosed with a low-grade (grade 1) soft tissue sarcoma, that was removed with extremely narrow margins. The vet is hopeful that this should be adequate to minimize regrowth for a period of time, and grade 1 soft tissue sarcomas are less likely to have regrowth than grade 2 or 3. He will continue to go to the vet for follow-up visits every three months, and we will continue to monitor him closely. If the cancer does come back, there is a short course of radiation therapy that can be done to slow the spread.

I am extremely thankful to Access Specialty Animal Hospital in Culver City, CA for everything they did for Jaxson. Luckily he has been able to keep his crazy young personality and be the sweet old man he has always been!

Between the tests, exams, and surgery, this has been a big expense, and there will be more visits to the vet with potential radiation therapy in the future as well. Any little bit helps, and Jaxson and I appreciate all the love and support we have gotten so far!
