Help Kelly Get Back On Her Feet!

We all know that one person, who would drop everything to lend a hand to a friend in need.

We all know that one person, who you can count on to be there no matter the situation, time, or inconvenience it may cause them.

We all know that one person that no matter the struggles they are facing, or the personal issues they are dealing with, would never ask for help or a handout to ease their current situation.

We all know that one person that can find humor in all things and can make light of any difficult situation as well as bring a smile to your face.

To me, Kelly O’Donnell is all of these. For years she has volunteered her time for our local little league as well as organizing events. She has gone out of her way to make sure a lot of our children have the best experience playing little league and entering events with their friends. Her goal has been the betterment of others for as long as I have known her. She embodies what I have come to love about Octorara. Community, opportunity, fairness, and most of all caring. During my wife’s battle with cancer, Kelly would continually keep in touch to see how she was feeling throughout the entire process and even as it continues today. She has brought us meals, bought my kids items that she just thought they would like and would brighten their day. I cannot emphasize enough how selfless this woman is.

Just last weekend, Kelly was rushed to the hospital. After feeling somewhat not herself and having some difficulty with normal tasks, her mother (knowing her daughter very well) knew something was wrong and dialed 911. After numerous tests and multiple nights in the hospital to find what exactly was going on, the doctors finally diagnosed that Kelly had had a stroke. Hearing this news sank my heart like a rock as I have come to love this family as if they are an extension of my own. Kelly is a single mother raising one of the kindest young men I have had the pleasure of getting to know as well as getting to be his coach. Her mother (Mom-Mom) has been holding down the fort in her absence while trying to keep some normalcy for her grandson, Daulton.

We are creating this go fund me to try and raise, at minimum, $5500.00 dollars to help offset the medical costs that Kelly has accrued while being hospitalized. We all know how difficult this past year has been for everyone and I understand that times are hard. If you could find it in your heart to reach in your pockets and donate whatever you can. It goes without saying how grateful the O’Donnell family would be. This event has rocked their lives and has been exhausting for the whole family. Let’s Rock their bank account and help a well deserving family in their time of need as they would be the first to be inline to help you if you found yourself in a difficult situation in need of a hand.
