We run a therapy program for individuals with special needs and we have an amazing benefit of utilizing HORSES as our partners in providing this therapy. The clients we serve are much more likely to be in the "medically fragile" category and are at higher risk of exposure due to frequent medical and therapy visits. Additionally, we are unable to follow social distancing guidelines while still providing services as close contact and physical support is needed. As such, we have made the difficult decision to shut down temporarily due to the concerns surrounding the coronavirus. We have no income while shut down, but we still have our equine partners to provide for. We've got to continue paying their board, farrier, and healthcare and unfortunately even have upcoming spring wellness exams including dental services and vaccines that are needed for the well-being of our therapy horses. By nature, a business of our type is not a "money-maker". We provide these services to make a difference in our clients' level of functioning and overall quality of life, not to turn a profit...meaning our hearts are much more full than our wallets at any given time. We've got a little bit keeping us afloat, but without any billable services taking place, we are worried about how long that will last without further income. I know we are ALL struggling during this time of economic uncertainty, so many of you are in the same boat. If you are one of the lucky few, we would sincerely appreciate anything that you can offer to help. Even if no one is able to help, we WILL figure it out and ensure that our horses are well cared for, even if it puts us into debt. Our horses give their all to help our clients and we will make sure that they are not negatively impacted by this situation.
Thank you all for your consideration and support, be it financially, emotionally, socially (by sharing), and even through prayer. If you need to donate through a tax-deductible venue, please contact Human Therapy on Horseback.
