I'm a disabled, Muslim, queer person of colour about to start my second year of medical school. My dream is to become a doctor who serves the most marginalised — fighting for better healthcare for those struggling with addiction and/or mental illness, people of colour, and queer, trans and working-class people. This year, I have gotten involved with LGBTQIA+ healthcare studies at my university with a focus on trans endocrinology, as well as health inequalities, harm reduction and radical pedagogy studies.

I am a graduate so am not entitled to tuition fee loans, instead having to self-fund. I currently work freelance as a poet and performer, as well as a tutor and facilitator as I look for more reliable work. Unfortunately, due to rising rent and utility costs, an increasingly crunchy job market and financially supporting two family members, I am struggling to raise the funds for this year.
