Temporary Housing and Expenses

In September of 2014 my mother was diagnosed with Alzheimers and Dementia. At the time she was diagnosed my family was living in North Port, FL and essentially squatting in a house that was unlivable with exposed wiring, roach infestations, and structural problems. The bank bought the house and this week my mom, dad, and my brother Michael were forced out therefore becoming homeless.

My brother Nathan entered a rehabilitation center this past year to find some stability in his life and was able to find a job and secure housing with two other roommates but now since my family has no where to live he has to open up his home to both my mother and brother. Nathan worked very hard to get out of his situation, but he is now back dealing with some very adult problems at a very young age.

I have been working very hard to find my mother a nursing home in the meantime. I've had to work with the Department of Children and Families in order to find her coverage since she is without health insurance. I just found out today that she was denied due to the application not being completely filled out. My father did not follow up with the information and he is not cooperating with me at this moment. He has power of attorney over her and I am finding it nearly impossible to communicate with him.

When I went down to visit last week I was shocked to see the state of things. There was a lot of hoarding going on and I was able to get rid of 8 bags of junk that were covered in roach eggs and cat feces. The animals were also neglected and the dog was still wearing a collar from when he was a puppy over ten years ago. The cats have been eating food that was exposed to roaches and a lot of the tiling on the floor had been completely ripped out. My mother was wearing boy's shorts and a raggedy shirt. My brother Michael was wearing clothes that were from when he was a teenager. He is now 29 and has never learned how to drive, secure a job, or live a normal life. He will also have to go to rehabilitation and learn how to navigate in the world. They've been through much trauma in their lives and it has been very hard to process and understand fully the severity of the situation. I have tried my best to financially give what I can by buying clothes and other necessities, but I've finally hit the end of my rope and can not afford to anymore.

I'm asking on behalf of my family, specifically my brother Nathan, for some financial assistance. They have brought two other mouths to feed and it will put a strain on the finances at that house. I'm not asking for too much, but anything would help their situation. The money donated will go straight to my mother and brother. Sadly, the situation has been created by years of ignoring problems and neglect. It is very hard for me to even be transparent about what is going on, but I truly have no other options at this point. My resources have run out and I'm exhausted in all aspects. Please donate whatever you see fit. Anything helps at this point.

Thank you for listening to my story, and thank you for donating. I am hoping that this story has a good outcome. I am hoping that each person affected will be able to move forward in their lives and find their own stability.
