My name is Gizel Roache, and my friends and I have family members in rural areas of Trelawny and Hanover who were severely affected by Hurricane Melissa. Our families in Jamaica have lost almost everything after this devastating Category 5 hurricane. The storm ripped the roofs off their homes, flattened houses, and left them without food, clean water, or electricity. Entire communities have been shattered — roads are blocked, homes are unrecognizable, and families are struggling to find even the most basic necessities. Mattresses, clothing, and furniture were all destroyed, and there are small children and elderly relatives who are especially vulnerable at this time.

We are doing our best to stay hopeful, but the reality is that rebuilding will take time, effort, and resources we simply do not have. We are in urgent need of assistance to replace roofs, repair what’s left of homes, and provide food, clean water, and clothing for everyone affected. Your support will go directly toward helping our families purchase building materials, essential supplies, and other items needed to restore safety and comfort. Additionally, other community members who are severely impacted will also be assisted.
