Help Lori Walk Again!

In August 2021 Lori was taken into hospital where she was diagnosed with Legionairres Disease, a rare atypical pneumonia that is very serious. She spent 6 weeks in ICU where she was intubated. Her kidneys shut down and she was required to start dialysis. Loris spent an additional 6 weeks in the renal unit. Her kidneys are now doing better and dialysis is suspended. Lori is unable to walk as a result of this ordeal. Lori was discharged home on November 9th. She required 24 hour care. After 6 days at home, Lori had a seizure. She required CPR and had to be resuscitated. She was admitted back to hospital where it has been determined that the seizure was related to her diabetes and antibiotics she was taking. She remains confused and has suffered a loss of memory. We do not know if this is long term. Lori is not eligible to be referred to a rehabilitation facility. The hospital is wanting her to be released back home immediately. Lori's full physical and cognitive rehabilitation will need to take place here at home.

Lori requires 24 hour care at this time. We will need a PSW through the night as Lori requires full care. We require a PSW 4 hours each day to support me caring for Lori. This will augment the very limited homecare provided.

We will also need to augment the publicly funded physio which is very limited. Lori will require not only physiotherapy but she will require equipment. We want to bring her home and get her back on her feet again. We want to help her recover her mental abilities. We need support to do this!
