16,000km Cycle Challenge

Donation protected
We are a bunch of fellas at a loose end during lockdown and have been advised by our respective loved ones to get out of the house! Messing aside, Dee and Marty wanted to raise money for the Ardnashee School and College PTA to show their appreciation and highlight the outstanding work they do. Dee's close friend Paul and Marty both have sons who attend the school and felt a fundraiser was the best way to reflect how they value the care and attention the school provides. Having recently acquired as much skin tight lycra as he could, it was decided that setting ourselves a cycling challenge was the way to go. And after a bit of back and forth on the distance (some people wanted to do a solitary cycle but they shall remain nameless), it was agreed upon that we would do 2000km each between June 1st and August 31st. With 8 of us, the total distance covered over the 3 months will be 16000km. What we are hoping to do is raise some money for the Ardnashee PTA. They do incredible work for the pupils and staff at the local school but have run into difficulty this year due to Covid-19 which has curtailed their plans to do a Strictly Come Dancing type fundraiser as well as a quiz. The money that they usually make from their fundraisers goes straight back into the children: providing extra resources, putting on activity weeks, Christmas and Easter presents, amongst many other things. Whatever money we raise during this cycling event, it will go to the Ardnashee PTA to ensure that the children do not miss out and any donations that you can make, regardless of size, would be so gratefully received.  Anyway, I'm off to order padded shorts as I'm not sure my behind will be able to manage otherwise!

Our school PTA chairperson, Roisin Bolster will be in charge of withdrawing the money to the PTA account and from here, she will ensure that the money is distributed to support the children of Ardnashee School and College. Through inisital discussions, we have agreed that each of the 42 classes at the school will be provided with a sum of money to ensure that the children in their immediate class benefit from the money raised.
