Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone for the outpouring of love and support for Nash, as he has been very sick this week.
My sweet baby needs some help :(
Unfortunately last night, Nash had to undergo emergency surgery. He swallowed an elk knuckle about a week ago and it got lodged in his small intestine. A few days ago, he took a turn for the worst. He was refusing water and food (which he has never done in his life) and shaking, with constant diarrhea and vomiting, so I knew something was very wrong. The vet tried to get the bone moving by pumping him full of IV fluids, but the bone was not budging and his small intestine was becoming more and more distended. The surgeon opened Nash up and found that his small intestine was perforated in 2-3 areas and the bone was sticking out. This part of his small intestine had to be removed along with the bone. Nash is in ICU, he is recovering well and he will be at the vet under their care for a few more days. We are very thankful for the board certified surgeon and her team at Western Veterinary Clinic (I was so stressed and worried, I didn’t catch her name) for coming in to do surgery in the middle of the night to do emergency surgery to save Nash’s life. If we had left it any longer, the situation would have become life threatening and we would have lost Nash. He is not out of the woods yet, he will remain in ICU and there is still a chance his small intestine could leak.
I am very thankful he is alive and he will be ok, but I am now left with a $10 000 vet bill after what has already been a difficult year. I have never asked for help like this before but I feel like at this point I have no choice :( I know Nash has a lot of amazing friends and people who care for him. I would appreciate any possible help with his vet bill, even just a small amount. Every little bit helps. Thank you and please share <3
