Hailee’s Road To Recovery
Donation protected

Hailee was sadly Hospitalised on the 18/01/2022 and Diagnosed with a condition called GBS Guillain Barre Syndrome. This is a Neurological condition that attacks the nervous system.
Hailee was a independent 20 yr old living life. Manager of a Tobacconist, she had taken her first ever personal bank loan out in August 2021 to fund her Biatric Surgery which she had the Gastrointestinal bypass done late September 2021 which was supposedly the start to a new healthy life. November 2021 Hailee started to have respiratory concerns so she had went to Emergency at the Hospital. They monitor her for a while then let her go home saying she needs to rest. 7th of January Hailee picked up her new Mazda CX-5 which she had taken finance out to purchase it. The few weeks in January 2022 Hailee complains of pins and needles in her hands, legs and feet she thought it’s just a circulation thing, Hailee started complaining about pain in her back, she is becoming weak and struggles to walk up 2 steps. Shes fatigue and can’t get out of bed. On the 18/01/2022 Hailee gets out from her bed to go to the toilet, she collapsed and can’t get back up she says she can’t feel her legs.. 000 is called and Hailee is taken by ambulance to Emergency. Paralysed from her feet, up to her arms, she’s admitted into hospital in the N2F ward. Hailee has poor vision, hearing and her speech has been affected. Hailee hasn’t taken to the first lot of treatment and here she’s taken to ICU. Hailee received a full Plasma Exchange and after a few days of being in ICU, she is back in ward N2F. With COVID I applied on 2 different occasions for a exemption to be allowed to visit my baby girl but both times they were rejected. I’m worried, scared and needing to be there for my daughter. The only way of communicating with her was booking a conference call which is similar to a face time call. Seeing her helpless and hearing her cry, wanting her mum was the most heartbreaking feeling that I’ve had to experience. I call and speak to a nurse asking could I have a social worker speak with Hailee, I’m concerned of her mental health. 2 days later the social worker Belinda is FaceTime calling me and she’s with Hailee, she witnesses how upset Hailee and I both are and gets me approved for a exemption. Everyday for 1 hour I was allowed to see my daughter. Hailee needs full rehabilitation, physiotherapy and medical care while working towards recovery. It’s been 34 days of being hospitalised so far and has many more stays yet. It could take many months or years but it’s a hard long road ahead towards her recovery.
1 - Fatigue
2 - Moods
3 - Pain
Hailee is trying her hardest with moving forward. I’m trying so hard to keep up with her financial situation but struggling. Centrelink will pay her $500 fortnightly. She has used all her entitlement money through her work.
I called Westend Mazda Parramatta explained the situation to a Car Sales Consultant asking if he could cancel the new contract seeing it was only 12 days after picking the car up, she was diagnosed with this GBS condition. He tells me the best thing he recommends would be to sell the car for $35,000 pay the money off the loan and this way it leaves her only $5000 plus to pay off. My thought are how lousy a serious illness and they wouldn’t even attempt to help us.
I’m trying and going to do my best to help Hailee keep the new car she loves.. also trying to avoid her getting into a hardship situation especially when I’ve witnessed her being so responsible and trying her best to live a quality of life she deserves.
Any support, donation will be so much appreciated
all money raised will be paid on her car loan in hope she will get to keep it..
I will give regular updates on Hailee’s journey to recovery
Thank You So Much
