Hi, my name is Siobhan and I am fundraising for my dear friend Denise.

Denise has come into financial crisis in the midst of a health issue thanks to her previous employers who let her go, without cause when they found out she needed surgery for a biopsy.

This cannabis retail store chain let her go but has refused to post her ROE. As a result, she did not get her last paycheque (she has gone 5 weeks without pay now) and she has not been able to file for EI.

Denise is a hardworking single mum of two adult children who have disabilities. She is the sole breadwinner in her family and last Friday I had to take her to the hospital for surgery where she underwent general anaesthetic so they could take a biopsy.

As Denise waits for her biopsy results, and recovers from the surgery, she is also waiting for a secondary surgery, where they will be cutting her calf muscle and the tendons in her leg in an effort to fix an old broken foot injury that has impeded her ability to live pain-free and walk properly for the past five years.

Again, because her previous employer has not posted her ROE for the past three weeks or paid her, her last paycheque, she is unable to apply for medical EI or any supports. She is being held hostage in a horrible scenario when she really needs to be supported so she can recover and heal.

She should not be worrying about how to pay her rent, feed her kids, not bounce her car payments or insurance.
