For everyone who knows me, they understand how difficult it is for me to be asking for the help of others. But at the same time, they will also understand, the lengths I will go to give my little fur babies a fighting chance at living the best life they can.

A few weeks ago my lil Maya bean became sick and some tummy issues turned into into neurological issues and a few vet appointments later, Tufts was able to figure out she was born with a congenital portosystemic liver shunt. A fancy way of saying there’s an abnormal blood vessel connection allowing blood flow through the liver.

Originally, I was given the quote of about $10,000 in regard to testing, medications, hospitalization and surgery. I was prepared to take on the financial burden and deal with the consequences myself throughout the future months. But over the last week or so, she’s gotten worse, requiring her to be hospitalized again and in turn… more vet bills. She’s turning 2 on May 1st and I’m willing to do everything I can to give her a fighting chance because I can’t imagine missing out on potentially over a dozen more years with my little bean. Especially since once she can have this surgery, she can live a long and healthy life. She just needs to become stable enough to have it.
