We begin this new year with heartbreaking news. On New Year’s Day, our beloved family home and family-run hotel, Kure Mountain Lodge, located in Turkey was destroyed in a devastating fire. Built with love, dedication, and years of hard work, this lodge wasn’t just a business; it was the heart of our family and a cherished home surrounded by the beauty of nature.
We are incredibly grateful that there was no loss of life. My parents, brothers, sister, and their families—including my two young nieces (11 and 7) and my 1-year-old nephew—escaped safely. However, the fire has left them without a home and without most of their belongings.
Kure Mountain Lodge was more than a building—it was a dream come true for my father, who began with a small trout restaurant on land gifted by my grandfather. Over time, with the help of my siblings, it grew into a thriving hotel welcoming guests from near and far, while serving as the home where my family built their lives together.
The damage is overwhelming. The second floor, where my brother and his family lived, has been completely destroyed. The lower level, where my parents, sister, and her family lived, has suffered extensive damage.
Despite this immense loss, we are determined to rebuild. Our immediate priority is replacing the roof to protect the remaining structure from heavy snowfall expected later this month. The road ahead is challenging, but with your support, we believe we can restore what we’ve lost.
If you’re able and willing to contribute, any amount—big or small—will make a significant difference and help us take the first steps toward recovery.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness, generosity, and support during this incredibly difficult time.
With gratitude,
Gulizar and Family
