As most of you know, David was an amazing husband, father, son, brother, uncle, friend, employee, etc. David wore many hats. He was very supportive of his family and a best friend to his wife and children. He always had a smile on his face and his presence lit up a room.

Unfortunately, on Tuesday, September 7th, David suffered a massive stroke. He was given TPA at Miami Valley North and was able to squeeze the hands of his beautiful wife and amazing children, giving them hope of brighter days. He was then rushed to the main campus for emergency surgery to remove the clot(s) that had completely occluded his carotid artery that caused a massive stroke on the right side and two minor strokes on the left.

While we were all hopeful that he was recovering from the strokes, further tests proved to show that David had two blood clots in his heart and that he had sustained so much damage to his heart that he was left with a 20% ejection fraction. Still knowing that David was strong and would continue this fight for himself, but most importantly his family, we were optimistic!

More bad news came when Nina questioned the temperature and color of his left leg during one of her visits and a Doppler ultrasound confirmed a DVT completely occluding blood flow. He had to have another emergency surgery to remove the clot(s) in order to save his leg and prevent the risk of the blood clots traveling. Doctors were not confident that he would even make it through surgery due to the anesthesia and the weakness of his heart. After many prayers, he pulled through.

Unfortunately, when you have constant blood clotting, you have to treat this with blood thinners. When you have incisions and wounds from recent surgeries, you have a risk of bleeding. Trying to balance the two became the complication.

David’s body left this earth on Thursday, September 16th. His spirit though, it will live on forever with his loved ones. These same loved ones will soon be laying David to rest. I’m asking that if anyone can find it in their heart to donate, please do so. I want to make the next several months as easy as possible for them to get back on their feet. I understand that some are not in a position to help financially, and in that case, please just keep them in your prayers.

You are all appreciated!!
