I am an Italian woman who is temporarily living in Germany, but still having connections to my country. I am trying to open up to a new carrier here, so looking for a job on German land.

Being still connected to my country, I keep voting for elections and referendums in Italy. In March there will be an important referendum, related to the juridical system and its freedom. To me, having the possibility to speak out my voice on this matter is not only a strong responsibility of every voter, but it is also an important right that I want to respect. Our government is unfortunately preventing many of us living abroad to use our right to vote. Power rarely likes democracy. I wanted to ask for the permission to vote abroad, but it is possible only for the ones who are already working or studying somewhere. I am looking for a job. So, practically the ones who work/study may have the money to come back but not the time. People like me may have the time (and that’s not even true) but not the money. And asking for a refund for the money paid for the ticket is out of question.

Flights prices are rising in an extraordinary way lately. The date for the referendum is uncertain: the government bypassed our country’s funding law and set the date against it. So there are many protests around it. Still, the court denied any change of date. We keep waiting to understand if the decision is final and then I’ll finally buy the ticket. The more you wait though, the higher the prices become. Plus, unfortunately I live in a small town, very far from the nearest airport. My standard trip back home may take an average of 8 hours, with a peak of 14 hours in one occasion, and I usually have to take 2 flights and a bus or a train. But serving my duty and right as a citizen is worth it. What I can’t afford though in this moment is the cost of the a/r ticket.

I am asking for help to buy the tickets and be able to come back in my homeland and vote, and I only ask for what I will pay fairly!
