My name is Annette Matthew and I am running for Valley Stream D24 School Board. My vision is "Smarter Schools for Real Life - Not just for Report Cards!" The jobs of tomorrow require more than memorizing facts. They need kids who can think, solve, create, and lead. With AI changing our childrens future, let's build life skills they can use every day.
Our children at an elementary school level should master financial know how. This is about building a foundation in money awareness, decision-making, saving, and the difference between needs and wants. We can teach budgeting basics, having savings goals and the role of banks.
They must master digital literacy, the ability to effectively and critically navigate, and evaluate information using a range of digital technologies. It goes way beyond just knowing how to use a computer or smartphone.
These are only a few of the ideas I would love to bring to the classroom. I am fundraising for signs, mailers, and flyers.
