My sister Sabrina and her 2 kiddos were getting ready for bed on December 26th when the tornado sirens went off in Rowlett. 5 minutes later when the neighbor called and told her to "go", she packed up the kids and drove to the safest place she knew to go...the local Wal-mart. A man pulled up beside and started screaming for her to "get out". What she didn't realize is the tornado was right behind her. She grabbed the kids and ran, her glasses fell off in the chaos and she didn't even close the car door. She said she could feel it right behind her (gives me chills and makes me cry just thinking about it!) She made it in the store in the knick of time.
The kids and Sabrina are safe and her husband works on a boat out of town so he is frantically trying to get home. They lost EVERYTHING!!! The house if flattened and they have no renters insurance. The car windows were all broken out and the drivers door bent completely back on itself. I know its all just "stuff" and am so thankful they are ok. I would love to help her replace just the basics....clothes, toiletries and food. They have a temporary place to stay and be safe. Anything you could contribute would be greatly appreciated!
