On Monday July 13th, a fire ripped through my sister’s home in Haliburton, Ontario. She and her husband, Alex von Einsiedel, lost everything. We are asking for your generosity to help get them through this crushing time and begin to start over.
Risking their own lives, Alex and Sue raced through their home trying to save their cats, dogs, guinea pigs and their 17- year-old parrot, Baby Duck, but the blaze was too quick. Only the dogs and one house cat survived. Sue was taken to the hospital with smoke inhalation. It wasn’t until after she was released that she realized the bottoms of her feet were burned. A small price to pay to save some of those they loved. Sue is still disoriented, emotionally fragile and utterly overwhelmed by the enormity of all they’ve lost.
Let me tell you a little bit about my sister and her husband. Sue and Alex have saved countless, injured, homeless wild and domesticated animals. Sue is fiercely loyal, tirelessly loving and kind hearted. Alex is tremendously talented, hard-working and happy to help other people. There isn’t anything Alex can’t build or fix. Sadly, he can’t fix this.
So many times, they’ve carried around a box of orphaned babies they’ve been feeding with an eye dropper every couple of hours, night and day. Now they’re the ones who need help.
Nothing was salvageable from their house. What do you need when you’ve lost everything? You need everything. That’s why we’re reaching out to you.
All donations will go toward necessities needed in order to get the rebuilding process started and give them back their lives. No amount is too small and will be greatly appreciated.
