The Livingston High School Portuguese Luso-American Club is raising funds to support the volunteer firefighters in a small town in Portugal that lost much of their gear and equipment during the devastating wildfires in the summer of 2024.

On the worst day of the forest fires, emergency services were stretched to their limits, battling over 300 separate fires in less than 24 hours. The wildfires overwhelmed the authorities, with all available fire personnel deployed across hundreds of sites. Many homes and vehicles were destroyed, especially in Monção and the surrounding towns of the Minho region.

We need your help to replenish the vital equipment these firefighters urgently need as we approach the summer fire season.
