JP's Medical Fund
Donation protected
John Paul Meier (Jp to many) has been married to my sister, Ashley, for almost 30 years. Those who know JP have seen his never-ending generosity, even to strangers. Although he prefers to be on the giving side of things, he finds himself in an unusual situation in which he is now the one in need of help. After being ill with a fever for 17 days, multiple tests determined an unknown infection. He was unresponsive to antibiotics and steroids, and his condition was quickly deteriorating. His doctor ordered a CT of his chest that revealed a large mass in his upper left lung. JP was immediately hospitalized, where he remained for five days, undergoing many tests, multiple iv antibiotics, and breathing treatments. Concluding the mass was malignant and infectious, the doctors performed a bronchoscopy. Unfortunately, the biopsy was inconclusive due to the mass's location. Over his five-day hospital stay, JP's fever reduced, and he was no longer in debilitating pain. Due to his positive response to the treatment, the doctors decided to allow JP to go home on a PICC line with IV therapy for four weeks. After the four weeks of home treatment, JP will have another CT to determine the mass's size. If the mass is still present, a needle biopsy, which comes with certain risks, will be performed to determine malignancy.
JP has a long and uncertain path to recovery. His ability to work has been hindered and will continue to be for some time. Due to having minimal health insurance coverage with a high deductible and out of pocket cost, the medical expense will be very high. The bills acquired to date are projected to exceed $10,000, with a new deductible needing to be met in the new year.
We are asking for your assistance to help defray these medical expenses.
We appreciate any assistance towards these bills as there is no foreseeable way for this family to cover this. All gifted funds will only go to medical expenses. We thank you for considering and emphasize that any amount is helpful. Whether you are able to donate or not, we also ask you to keep JP in your daily prayers and thoughts. Thank you!
