Hi everyone.! Thank you for taking the time to come on board. I've organised this Gofundme for an A grade bloke named Wayne Wooding & his beautiful little family; wife Kym & children Corrine 15 & Jake 8.
The back story:
Wayne 47, one of the most kind hearted, down to earth men I've ever met, although always making good health & lifestyle choices, has unluckily had relatively poor health since turning 29. With a history of bowel cancer & many health issues following, Wayne thought he was home free once in remission - surely this was enough. Until 7 years ago when he was diagnosed with 'Alports Syndrome', the 2nd leading kidney disease in the world - which hardly anyone knows about.
Wayne is now at 12% kidney function - baffling how he keeps going. With trips back and forward to Melbourne for specialist appointments & bucket loads of medication, Wayne recently had 2 operations to successfully formate a fistula - for when the inevitable occurs (dialysis) as despite all efforts, a kidney donor is far from sight.
With all these appointments & becoming more & more unwell, Wayne & Kym (who has had her own health issues this year) have both had to have time off work (unpaid) for some extensive periods this year. Wayne being a casual employee due to his health status, means no sick leave entitlements.
The main expenses:
Utility bills
Medication
Travel & Accomodation to/in Melbourne as well as medical appointments- as not all tests are covered by Medicare.
Wayne is scheduled to have yet another operation next week (Tues 30/10) for part 2 of the fistula formation/completion. This again resulting in more time off work for both Wayne & Kym. Wayne has been put on the waiting list for dialysis locally in Wodonga & also in Wangaratta due to a huge waitlist - his specialist Dr. Rutherford thinking it will be commenced over the summer.
With Christmas fast approaching (8 weeks!) I ask that any donation would be ever so gratefully received, to help a beautiful family like this - who would do anything for anyone, from the bottom of my heart, thank you. Mikaela.
