Moving expenses

Hello everyone,

If you don't know me, my name is Lauren and I live in Raleigh. Recently, my partner and I separated. They have already moved out of our shared apartment (and will be collecting the last of their things within the next week). This leaves me with the responsibility of paying rent alone while I'm still here, and paying to sever the lease since I cannot afford rent on my own and I will have to leave.

Our rent is about $1550/mo, and to sever the lease, it will be about $3000. My ex has stated that they do not know how to pay for these fees, and doesn't want to pay rent after this month (fair). I'm not holding my breath for their help. After supporting them through unemployment last year, my family and I have little left in savings with which to rely on.

[I'm sure you're wondering about my partner's contributions here and why I don't demand help from them. I'm trying to get through this last bit of our break up with as little conflict as possible, which is why I'm not fighting with them to pay what they contractually owe. They already have housing taken care of for themselves, and I worry about retaliation.]

The funds raised through this fundraiser will help me pay rent for 2 months (I must give our leasing office 60 days notice) and will cover the cost of severance. Any funds raised above and beyond that will go towards moving expenses such as a u-haul and storage unit, or other fees that come up along the way.

I am still working, thankfully, so naturally I will be putting my extra funds to this as well. Any support you can give me is greatly appreciated and will help close this chapter and begin the next. Any little bit will help. Thank you in advance!
