Help Us Save Our Home from Foreclosure

Those of you who know me, understand how truly difficult this is for me to do. It's seldom I show this kind of vulnerability, and I'm reluctant to ask for this kind of help, but our current conditions have backed us into a corner, leaving this as one of our only options.
My husband developed an early onset brain disease. We went in thinking he had a heart attack and after a long road of tests and medical fees, we came out with more unsettling news. It affects his ability for finding words and his mood is unstable at times. leaving him unable to work indefinitely due to his condition. It took nearly a year to get him approved for disability, which in that time left a significant gap in the income needed to pay for basic necessities. In that time we used all of our savings and both 401ks to pay bills and try to stay afloat. We were able to hold ourselves up until I had my own health problems, leading us to fall behind on the mortgage payments. I immediately contacted my lender to try to negotiate terms. We filed the papers and sent the documents. They would send me a letter that we submitted everything and then the same night send another letter that they needed more. So, we would send more and I would send all that I could toward the mortgage. But, they would put the money in a separate account like an escrow and not post it. After, they stalled for 6 months they said we could no longer send payments because we were too ''delinquent'' and sent us into foreclosure. Thinking I didn't follow the right process, we hired a lawyer, putting us in even more debt due to their service fees. He firmly believed he could get us terms. Twice they (Select Portfolio Services) denied our appeal. Again, with the justification that we are "too delinquent". We have tried to borrow in every way possible, banks, equity, credit, friends, but we have reached the end of our rope. We have a small amount left to pay on our mortgage. And, our interest rate is low. The bank is not interested in negotiating with us because this would not benefit their profits in any significant way. We have a large amount of equity that we absolutely cannot access. We will have to sell. But, we cannot afford to buy another house - even with the cash we would receive - on Long Island because the houses are stupidly expensive. Renting an apartment would also prove difficult since we have two elder dogs and a cat. It is unlikely we would be able to find a place that would permit these kinds of pets due to one of our two dogs not being accustomed to other people, leaving her anxious and rowdy.

Part of me would be relieved to be done with this house, but even renting is double what our mortgage payment is currently. If anyone could just give even $1 and 40,000 people give just one dollar, we can meet our re-instatement amount with the bank. Look up SPS mortgage and you will see they have a history with these shady antics. We are not their only victims. There has been class action suits against them. I have written to NYS Governer's office as well. What started out as a couple of months behind, turned into months and months because of THEIR negligence.

I thank you for just reading this. Our family thanks you.
