We reach out to you today during one of the most challenging times our family has ever faced. Ally and Blake , our beloved friends and mother/father of the sweet little Olivia, has encountered an unexpected twist of fate that has left their family in a dire situation.
Ally dedicated a decade of her life to her job, providing for her family with unwavering commitment. However, without any warning, she found herself without employment, the rug pulled out from underneath her just as they were facing a parent's worst nightmare.
Just a day after losing her job, Ally & Blake daughter, Olivia, was rushed to the hospital with concerning symptoms. After a series of tests and heart-wrenching days filled with uncertainty, the doctors diagnosed Olivia with ALG13 gene mutation - a rare and severe condition that causes infantile spasms and, unfortunately, requires lifelong medical care.
Their family has barely had the time to digest this news when another wave hit. Blake, who is also responsible for contributing to household income as well as Olivia's, is on the hunt for a new job due to his current employer's business struggling. They now have no income to cover existing bills and overwhelming medical expenses.
As they are trying to grapple with Olivia's needs for specialized care, the medical bills are piling up with no end in sight. Each appointment, therapy session, and medication is another stone added to their already heavy burden.
They are ineligible for government programs, and Florida KidCare requires the child to be at least one year old before application. The insurance plan they have limits them to 30 therapy sessions annually, yet she requires six sessions weekly. Currently, Olivia urgently needs surgery to have a GI tube inserted, essential for her to receive nutrition, as she is unable to eat and struggles significantly with consuming liquids orally.
Ally and Blake have always been the first to offer a helping hand to others. They've lived their lives believing in the goodness and strength that comes from unity and community support. Now, they need our help more than ever.
