A helping hand for Harry in Hobart.
My name is Audrey and I'm starting this fundraiser for my 12-year-old nephew Harry, along with his heroic family.
Harry was diagnosed with medulloblastoma (a form of brain cancer) earlier this year. He has undergone surgeries, radiation therapy and now is in his second week of chemotherapy.
My sister is living every parent's worst nightmare, and my heart breaks for her. She is the most courageous person I know: a Mum to three beautiful children and doing it all on her own.
She has Maddy (16), Olivia (13) and Harry (12). Her baby boy, the youngest of the three, is now battling and fighting very hard.
Harry is one of the funniest and caring kids I know, extremely witty and always trying to make people laugh. Even through radiation therapy he was wheelchair-bound, lost a significant amount of weight along with his hair, and still he was trying to distract everyone from their pain by making them laugh.
My sister and her children had to fly to Melbourne for radiation therapy, as that service is not available in Hobart. The whole process was made so much more difficult given it was in the middle of a hard lockdown.
My sister and her children would never ask for anything, this is why I am reaching out — to show them that they're not alone.
My sister is somehow managing to be by Harry's side at the Royal Hobart Hospital as he undergoes chemotherapy, then driving home to the Huon Valley, over an hour away, to care for Maddy and Olivia.
She's a superhero — they all are. My goal is to raise funds to make this process a little easier for them, but most of all to show them that they have the support of the community and the people around them, even if they're total strangers. Please show these hard-working and hard-fighting Tasmanians that they have all of your support even if it's a small donation. Every little bit helps.
Thank you!
