Support Stephen's Battle Against Cancer
Donation protected
Hello & thank you friends, family & all that take the time to read this call for support & prayers.
I am hoping to raise money to help support my dad, Stephen during his medical hardship. During the month of July he began having trouble breathing, weakness & generally not feeling well. Fast forward, calls to his doctor & attempts to receive answers he ended up at the ER. He was originally hospitalized the third week of July for a couple of days, with not many answers. A few days later he ended up back at the ER with pneumonia. Since that time, he has been admitted & a patient at Guthrie Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton. After many tests, biopsies & procedures he has been further diagnosed with both Large Cell Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma & Small Cell Carcinoma. It has made its way to his esophagus, trachea, lungs, lymph nodes & we recently found out it is also in his brain. He has had some minor complications with his sodium levels, sugar levels, heart rate & oxygen levels but overall he is fighting hard & most of all staying positive. He completed 10 days of targeted radiation, a small surgery, draining of his lung procedure & started a 3 drug-3 day, chemo treatment this past week. His chemo treatments are scheduled to continue for 4-6 more cycles of 3 days series with 3 weeks off in between.
Now that you know of his medical issues, I'd love to tell you a little bit about my dad. He had a challenging life growing up as a foster child, but in his words: he tried to "never let it negatively effect him." He became emancipated as a young teen & always worked hard to support himself. My mom became pregnant with me when my dad was just 18 years old. So he decided to join the US Army to make sure that we had a good life. Fast forward many years, my parents had 4 children. I am the oldest & have two brothers (Stephen "SJ" & Matt) and one sister (Amanda). My mom sadly passed of ovarian cancer at age 60, in 2015.
My dad has done many things throughout his life & always with a big smile. He can talk freely to anyone his meets & makes others feel totally at ease. He loves to laugh, go camping, sit on his porch & play his guitar. He has a heart of gold & has lived a simple, conservative life. He retired from working full time 2 years ago, at age 65 but has had to work part time with Social Security not being quite enough. Since being hospitalized for a month he worries over paying his bills that continue to mount. I would love to help take some of that burden away while he is in this horrific medical battle for his life.
All money raised will go directly to my dad to help him with his bills, medical needs and/or anything that might come from this diagnosis. My siblings & I thank you for even the smallest of donations. We hope that you will share this for the greatest reach. I also hope that you will add him to your prayer lists & send your well wishes for the best outcome. My dad has a very positive mindset & we need to rally alongside him. Thank you again!
