Sophie's Medical Fees

I'm not good at asking for help. But I really need it.
Sophie is my 9-1/2 year old miniature dachshund and she ruptured a disc in her back last Saturday night. She woke me screaming in pain and would only drag her back legs behind her. The emergency vet told me that while she had lost motor control of her back legs, she had not lost feeling, so the prognosis was good. But she still recommends surgery to repair the disc. She said that we could try the low-tech method of crate rest and medicine, but that the surgery was the best option. Unfortunately, the surgery will cost between $2,500 and $3,000 which is money I just don't have.
While at the emergency vet, I considered surrendering her to the local dachsund rescue so she could be taken care of. The picture above is the one I took thinking it might be the last one I had of her. I spent the next hour at the vet's office with my arms around her waiting to hear the results. Fortunately (and selfishly) for me, the rescue group was full and unable to take her, but that leaves her with me unable to provide her with the care she needs.
So I'm asking for help. Anything you can offer will be appreciated more that you can ever know.
