Hi, my name is Kara, and I never imagined I would be writing something like this.

My husband, Marcus, recently had an unexpected hospital stay that turned our world upside down. We believed we were prepared—Marcus has Aflac insurance, and we trusted that it would help cover his hospital expenses and short-term disability while he was unable to work. Unfortunately, his claims have been denied, leaving us with mounting medical bills and lost income at a time when we are already stretched thin.

To make things even harder, Marcus hasn’t been at his new job very long and doesn’t have any PTO or holiday pay built up. Being out of work during his recovery has meant no income coming in while our regular expenses and medical bills continue to add up.

Asking for help like this is incredibly difficult for us. We are embarrassed and ashamed to be in this position, but we’ve reached a point where we don’t have many options left. This fundraiser wasn’t created with a specific goal in mind—we only added one because the platform required it. Truly, any amount of support would be a blessing. Even raising a hundred dollars would help us get through this season.
