Al Kamandjati (arabic for the violonist) has been founded in 2002 and aims to provide music education to Palestinian children and youth and to contribute to the promotion of the musical culture in Palestine.
At Al Kamandjâti, music is viewed as an outlet for self-expression, enabling students to identify their own resources and creativity, to build their independence, and celebrate life.
Al Kamandjâti encourages students to make music and thus transcend the daily hardships due to the Israeli military occupation. The school currently teaches 1,500 students.

The Singing for Jerusalem Festival
Every year, since 9 years, Al Kamandjati gather a symphonic orchestra made of Palestinian young talents and passionate and dedicated professional musicians from all around the world. They played every year a Symphony of Beethoven and this year it's the last one, the 9th Symphony.
As this symphony require a large number of singers, choirs are coming from everywhere to participate. They will also perform their own repertoire in the beautiful city of Jerusalem during 4 days of choir festival.

The orchestra experience has acted as a catalyst for the Palestinian students, providing them the opportunity to play with inspiring world-renown professional musicians, work together on challenging symphonic repertoire, and perform for huge audiences in Palestine’s important venues.
