Healing Rachel

UPDATE: 24th July 2020

Since her diagnosis on December 5th Rachel embarked on some intensive natural therapies before starting chemotherapy. She’s almost finished 6 months (16 rounds) of chemotherapy coupled with having to cope with being physically isolated due to Coronavirus. This meant being separated from family and friends which proved to be very difficult as fatigue became the biggest factor. Nevertheless, the great news is that she’s responding to the chemo ......but treatment is not over yet. She’s only halfway there.

After the 16 rounds of chemo finishes, Rachel will face 5 weeks of daily radiotherapy followed 4-6 weeks later, major surgery which will see her in hospital for over 7 days and then up to 6 weeks of recovery.

At the start of her cancer treatment, Rachel also started a new casual job and works from home when she is well enough but unfortunately this does not meet all her medical costs nor everyday bills.

Let's help Rachel meet her goal to be cancer-free by Christmas.

Thank you in advance for your support and donations.

With love always,

Anthia

At 3:30pm on the 5th December our friend Rachel Weaver, mother of 2 beautiful boys was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. This big-hearted giver now needs our help.

This is her story… words from Rachel….

"After having felt a change in breast tissue I sought advice from my GP and was referred to a have a mammogram, which was inconclusive. Whilst monitoring any changes over time, life then got in the way especially with my younger son being very unwell.  However, there was a nagging feeling that I needed to pay attention to my body - I couldn’t understand why it persisted and I put the fatigue down to having a full life. So I did another ultrasound and biopsy, which revealed the positive diagnosis of breast cancer. I left the doctor's office (a complete stranger to me) in complete shock, grappling with the enormity of what I just heard.  A subsequent biopsy of my lymph nodes has confirmed it has spread and so chemotherapy, surgery and radiotherapy have been recommended. Basically everything I’ve managed to avoid is hitting in one go! So 2020 is my year of healing…. whole.".

Rachel has an incredible and supportive network of doctors, natural therapists, family, and friends but she has had to stop work to focus on her treatment. As many of you know, running your own business doesn’t provide the same health care benefits and assistance as working for an employer. No sick day pay. No annual leave. I know this is going to be tight for her. And I don't want her to be thinking about whether she can afford any treatment which would compromise her healing.

Which brings me to this GoFundMe page. For those who know Rachel, you will know she would never ask for any help or accept any money. Hence, why I’m here creating this for her. She is learning to say ok and yes!

The picture above best describes Rachel, co-parenting her beloved boys, loving with the biggest heart - always a giver, dedicating her life and career to the healing of others. It’s now time for Rachel to receive.

Any funds raised will go towards various avenues, treatments, and everyday expenses during this incredibly difficult and challenging time for her and her family.

On behalf of Rachel, her family and friends we would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone in advance for your positive vibes, prayers, well-wishes, and support.
