My name is Richu Cherian, I am an international student from India, studying in Seneca college, CA. I came to Canada in 2022 for pursuing my diploma in social work, currently i am in my last semester. I am here to seek support for my dad who is diagnosed with liver failure last week. My dad don't have much time left without the help of kind hearts.
Why I'm fundraising
For the past few months my father was hospitalized due to jaundice, but in his case he had liver cirrhosis since few years back. It was a terrible time for me and my family both mentally and financially. The bills were humongous as health care in India is not free. Even though i was Studying in school, due to this i took one semester break from my school and supported my family at the same time saving for my next semester and my own bills, hoping my dad will get better soon. But last week the doctor told us that we cant wait anymore and we need to do liver transplant as soon as possible. It literally trembled my whole family. Even though my brother offered his liver, still we need more than $40000 to treat my father. Due to my studies abroad hoping for a good future for our family already engulfed us in huge debts. We will never be able to take a loan again from any source, otherwise we could have tried. I am doing my best working fulltime in the snow all day outside to support my family at the same time managing my school tuition and expenses. But even if i work 24/7, i cant make it with this time. We need to pay a deposit of $30000 to start atleast the tests in Rajagiri Hospital, Kochi. I never saw my father ever asking anyone to help him rather than helping others. This is the first time i am watching my father helpless and afraid.
The impact of your support
I haven't seen my father since 2 years, and wont be even able to see him at this crucial time nor in the coming few years. But i wish to see him when i get back home and to give him a big hug for everything he gave me. It took me years of hardship and loneliness in here to understand how much he loved me and how hard he worked for our family. Right now I am not able to look into the face of my mother and sister, because i can see the fear in their eyes of losing our dad. My sister calls me everyday crying out loud, she is not mentally prepared and she knows our financial stage. Your kind support will definitely give my dad a new life at the same time will help my whole family get back our happiness. Moreover i promise i will give back to my community when others are in need. I know the value of money more than anyone therefore, I promise you that not even a single dime of yours will be mismanaged. It will be directly transferred to my parents account.
