Dearest Family, Friends and Film Community,
Our hearts are broken.
We lost a treasured member of the World-Wide Film Family this Sunday, June 5th, 2022, when Rocky Babcock unexpectedly passed away.
Rocky was working on set Thursday. He entered the hospital on Saturday, reporting severe pain in his abdomen. On Sunday, he passed on.
Rocky and his wife, Dena, built an amazing life together, nurturing their children, Beau (9) and Bryce (6), and creating a world where they can accomplish anything. Since their birth, Dena has been a stay-at-home Mom for the kids and Rocky was the sole provider for his family. We are asking for your prayers, love and help.
If you’ve worked in the industry for any length of time, you probably crossed paths with Rocky at some point. He was one of the first Libra head techs back when remote heads were a rare item. Through his dedication to his craft, he helped to set the standard for what it means to be a “Head Tech.” As a passionate filmmaker, he loved being a part of the process. Rocky did everything in his power to help his clients, and in turn, friends, achieve their vision. He loved solving problems using the tools and expertise he learned along the way. He loved keeping it light, helping all of us on set to not take things too seriously.
He took pride in his work and in everything he did.
Rocky loved his life. He loved his family. He loved!
We have set up this Go Fund Me to give everyone a place to show their love and support for one of our own. Our goal is to keep Dena and the kids in their home. It’s enough to deal with losing a husband and father. We would like to help provide them as much stability as possible as they navigate these difficult times. We are sure that this is what Rocky would have wanted and that it would give him peace to know his family is not alone, that the community that loved Rocky so much would share that love with his family.
We are also collecting stories and images to create a virtual album for his kids. As they grow older, we would like them to be able to know Rocky as we knew him – professional, dedicated, compassionate, funny, irreverent, and a little nutty. All images and especially stories would be appreciated, in any format, as informal as possible. Please send them to [email redacted]
Thank you all for taking the time to read this and thank you for helping.
Rocky, we will never forget you and will forever carry a torch in your honor.
