Put on Your Boots and Walk
In 2021, Ewan decided to give Uni a miss, put on his boots and take a long walk.
Starting with the well-established Bibbulmun Track, he determined to traverse approximately 4,000 km over 5 months, on a winding route through the South-West, across the Nullarbor to the Heysen Trail and eventually, Adelaide.
After some initial planning and urging from friends, he realised the walk might serve as more than an exercise in madness (!) and so along the way he'll raise money in aid of Bush Heritage Australia.

Bush Heritage Australia buys and manages land for conservation. They also partner with Aboriginal groups and other landowners to help achieve conservation outcomes on private property. As he walks, Ewan will cross dozens of conservation areas, including those in the South West Australia Ecoregion, a world biodiversity hotspot. Organisations such as Bush Heritage Australia are key in establishing and maintaining these globally significant reserves.
Environmental conservation is a pressing issue in Australia, with over 1700 ecological communities and species threatened or at risk of extinction. Logging, agriculture, mining, and feral animals all pose a danger to Australia's bio-diversity. If they are allowed to encroach further onto land which harbours native flora and fauna, these species will start to disappear. Approaching conservation in this manner is a necessity if we hope to prevent ecological destruction.
