Hi everyone,
My name is Ali Jibrell, president of the Jibrell Family Fund, a U.S.-based nonprofit dedicated to providing humanitarian assistance to Somali communities in the Sanaag (north-eastern) region.
Somalia is experiencing one of the worst droughts in history and is on the brink of a humanitarian catastrophe. According to the U.N. Refugee Agency and Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), more than 1 million people have been displaced due to this crisis.
Due to the drought, the residents of the eastern Sanaag region of Somalia are struggling with an extreme water shortage. Wells have dried up, with reports of severe dehydration and thousands of dying livestock due to the inability to reach water sources.
The Jibrell Family Relief Fund is collecting money to provide emergency water trucking for towns in the Sanaag region, including Badhan, Ceelbuh, Hingalol, and Mindigale, which currently have no infrastructure to reach water sources.
Funds will be used to provide food and water to families in need of assistance, and cash will be provided to families if necessary.
We will be working closely with the managers of the Jibrell Family Fund's Badhan office to provide food and water to families. No amount of donation is too small, and updates will be provided.
Please donate anything you can. The Jibrell Family Relief Fund has already begun providing food and water trucks to these communities, but it needs your help to continue these efforts.
We will distribute the money where it is needed the most by sending water tankers to those villages. The price for a full water tanker ranges from $140 to $160 per trip.
