Hobo Needs Surgery
Donation protected
Hobo needs complicated dental surgery that he is scheduled to have on January 13 that will, unfortunately, not be covered by his insurance because one of the conditions is pre-existing (just my luck!) and appears in his medical records.
Hobo had many teeth extracted when he was rescued two years ago. His mouth was a horrible mess (common in even young Dachshunds) and despite regular and consistent teeth brushing, is still problematic. An old Oro-Nasal fistula that was repaired has re-opened. Another one is forming at the base of the left Canine. Several incisors need to come out as well.
At this time, due to the economic collapse of Lebanon, my income has been drastically reduced. The estimate for this surgery ($2500 - $3500) is beyond what I can afford and yet Hobo needs this taken care of as soon as possible.
For those of you who don’t know Hobo’s story, it is a good one. He was a stray wandering the busy streets of Citrus Heights and one day followed a couple home. They happened to have a soft spot for Dachshunds (they had two of their own) so they took him in. They had him scanned but found no microchip so they advised the shelters that they had him and posted fliers all over the neighborhood, hoping that his human would call. They only got one call. It was from a woman who said she recognized Hobo as belonging to a homeless man who lived behind Costco (she used to buy him dog food) but that the man had been arrested and jailed abound two months before. Hobo had been wandering around looking for his human for two months (and two miles)
The couple posted a plea on Facebook asking for a reputable Dachshund rescue and, by some miracle, their plea appeared on my page. I have no idea how that happened. I did not know them and they did not know me.
I arranged for a rescue to take Hobo in but were pre-destined to be together and I adopted him soon after… It was written in the stars. He is my soul mate. The sweetest, funniest, easiest, most loving, most mellow, well-adjusted soul mate I have ever known.
In short, he a blessing, a joy, a gift from the Universe.
I cannot postpone or avoid this surgery. It needs to get done as soon as possible. Dental disease is a serious concern and can affect the heart and other organs.
Thank you for reading about my campaign and for making Hobo’s dental issues a thing of the past.
