VIVIS RECOVERY FUND

Donation protected
On Thursday night my dear friend Vivien got brutally assaulted in the hallway of her apartment building in Berlin by her next door neighbor. Her cat had escaped into the hallway and when she tried to collect her pet and bring it back into her apartment, the neighbor, who had been waiting in the hallway, jumped her and severely beat her to the point of hospitalization. Vivi suffered immense physical trauma, and is currently still held at the hospital for observation. The most insane thing about this story, despite the inexplicable spontaneous brutality of it, is that the police was called, questioned the perpetrator, and then just let him GO BACK INTO HIS APARTMENT!!!??? So Vivien is now left not only injured and out of commission, but also unable to return to her own home for the time being, until she can take legal action against the neighbor to hopefully get him expelled from the building. It is unfathomable to me (and then again no big surprise) how the German authorities can be so reckless to set a violent and most likely mentally unwell individual back into the public sphere without proper evaluation or safety measures.

If you know Vivien, she is one of the kindest, most open and helpful people any of us could ever be lucky enough to meet, let alone call a friend. She has showed up for me, my friends and the many children and inner city youth she works with innumerable times over the years, and seeing her not just in physical pain, but also worried abt her living situation, potential legal fees and long term physical and mental recovery breaks my heart. Vivi is too humble to ever consider asking for support like this herself, but I would really love if we could come together as a community to ease at least the financial burden of this nightmare for her, since she will be unable to work and create as usual for a while, and will have unexpected costs for her recovery, legal council and temporary living situation until the perpetrator can be evicted from her building, or she finds a new long-term home, should she prefer to not live in this place any longer going forward. No donation is too small, even 5€ adds up and might give her some time and space to breathe and heal.
