On Feb 4th, 2022 - one of our very own WSPs (#WSPs), Davis Jermacans, left this world after over a month of his severe fight with Covid-19. It is surreal to think we had our usual touch base call on Dec 31st, on which I was rushing to go somewhere. We even joked about Covid a bit not knowing things will get out of hand the very next week for Davis and he would be intubated. I was not vaxxed and neither was Davis but his fate made me take the plunge and do it. For Davis, it was due to heart conditions in his family. Regardless, we miss the dude as his personality was larger than life!

I remember when we had our first call, in 2015 when our mutual work friend introduced us... Davis had lost everything as he had run for the City of Ottawa councilor race and lost. He was honest and poured his problems out. We moved to form a coalition to represent AHS in Canada. But this was the kind of man Davis was, who would give everything for his city!

He and I didn't see eye-to-eye on politics but we worked on various projects together and if I knew someone would be up in Canada working at 3am at night, I knew it would be Davis! I could always count on a return email back right away...haha. He was also a very committed dad. Working his meetings around his commitments with his daughter, always!

Having a loved one depart from one's life is not easy and to have lost someone at such a young age leaving behind his wife and 9-year-old daughter, Vivian is even harder on them. Death can hit anyone, anywhere anytime but being so unexpected has left a huge void and minimal planning for the family.
