For decades the Travis Heights community was enriched in many ways through the generosity of Vivian and Jimi Ballard.  Vivian was especially devoted to Travis Heights Elementary School. She became a THES parent in 2000 when her daughter Rachel entered kindergarten and remained active in the THES community until 2014 when her youngest daughter Mimi moved on to middle school. In that time, Vivian was a daily presence at THES, contributing to the success of our school through the PTA, art, music, P.E. and academic programs, assisting teachers in the classrooms, with food services where she worked to see that children received healthy lunches and protection for their food allergies, and in the development of the edible gardens. Her very sad death last summer was a particularly painful loss to the children of Travis Heights as well as to the many of us who lived and worked with her.
Please consider contributing to this  memorial we are establishing in her name to give the school a wide selection of library-bound children’s books reflecting her many passions and values, including Women in Leadership,  Human Rights, Nutrition and Health, and History/ Geography. There will be a special area in the library for these books which will allow Vivian's strong values and commitment to children to actively continue at Travis Heights Elementary.
       Thank you.
