Vivian Claar Memorial Fund
Donation protected
In October 2018, Vivian Claar was unexpectedly taken from us and the world lost one of its angels here on earth. Vivian was loved by all who met her and she cherished her family, her friends, and her co-workers. To honor Vivian, her family has established a memorial fund. Money given to this fund will be used to help build a greenhouse at Lee Middle School in Sharpsburg, Georgia, where Vivian worked as a paraprofessional. Vivian provided one-on-one assistance for a special needs student to ensure that he received all possible educational benefits. This student was a member of the STEAM team, which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math.
The purpose of the STEAM team is to build a business model from concept to delivery. Last year, 6th-grade students who were interested in participating in the program completed applications for admission on the school's STEAM team. Teacher recommendations and student conferences were also a part of the final STEAM team selection. Currently, there are 105 gifted, general, and special education students who comprise the team.
This year, the Team has chosen to build a greenhouse. Students are currently engaged in academic research projects and building proposals that will be finalized in May with specifics as to what type of plants will be grown in the greenhouse and how the plants and produce will be used in the community. Stakeholders will have the opportunity to review student research and proposals in May prior to finalizing the project for next year's build.
Vivian was passionate about the STEAM team and greenhouse project. In her memory, donations for the project will be gratefully accepted.
