When you work at a job, you receive a paycheck.

Unfortunately, this is not a reality for many fantastic designers, video editors, project managers, illustrators, and other employees at Vive Media.

For months, Vive Media has been delaying payment to its employees (among other unhealthy practices). As we are learning, this is not an isolated event but appears to be widespread across hundreds of former and current employees. As of May 3rd, 2022, we are aware of 25 people who are currently owed money by Vive Media for work they’ve already completed. Many of them are owed 2+ month's salary. At this time, the total of the former employees' unpaid salaries is $183,270 .

For this reason, I’m organizing our efforts. I was in leadership at Vive, and now that I’m out, I want to do my best to repair damages and help everyone move on with their lives.

The truth of what has been going on behind closed doors has finally come to light. We (former employees of Vive) have been astonished by the support and encouragement you've shown already.

“This is awful. I want to help! What can I do?”

1. Donate
Some of those injured in this process took on debt, cleared out savings, or missed mortgage payments to stay afloat. The most significant way to get involved and support the folks who have been hurt is through financial contributions (of any amount).

2. Hire
If you're in a position to hire former Vive employees, please do so. One-time projects, full-time gigs, or retainers are all welcome.

3. Share
Over the next 3 weeks, we will be inviting you to join us with your wild, creative, and fun ideas to get the word out! It's time to start using your voice and skills to bring hope and healing. Download the Graphics Pack

I'll be adding more updates over the days and weeks to come! Love you guys, and thank you again for pitching in to shed some light on a challenging situation.

How It Works
We will be accepting contributions until May 24, 2022.
Any funds we receive (after transaction fees) will be divided based on the percentages of damages upon campaign completion.

Funds Received - 3% transaction fees / employee % of the total owed amount = payout

For example, we receive $50,000 by the end of the campaign. Susie is owed $14,000 by Vive. She would receive $4,537.70. Johnny is owed $2,000 by Vive. He would receive $648.24.

If we receive the full $188,768, everyone that I’m aware of (as of 5/3/22) should be paid what they are owed.*

*We set the goal at $200,000 to account for any new claims that come in during the campaign. If additional funds are raised we will leverage the additional funds for supporting new claims from former employees, as they come in.

Who is running this campaign?

Josh Whiting (former Vive Media executive) is leading this campaign with counsel, accountability, and support from Dustin Cooper, Anthony Domine, and Nik Goodner.

My priorities with this campaign are twofold:

1. Provide financial assistance to former Vive employees / coworkers who are owed unpaid wages.

2. Foster a healthy conversation whereby former Vive employees and other injured parties can find some level of healing and closure.

For specific questions around the campaign not covered here, please feel free to Contact Us.

What is the withdrawal plan?

After funds are received, I will distribute to former employees based on percentage owed (see “How It Works” above), pending they are able to provide evidence that they previously worked at Vive Media and are currently owed money that they have already attempted to receive through normal channels.

Upon review by myself, Anthony Domine, Dustin Cooper, and Nik Goodner, funds will be distributed via PayPal in accordance with the percentage breakdown (see “How It Works”).

How will the funds be spent?

The first 3% of all incoming donations go to transaction fees. All of the remaining 97% will go directly to former Vive Media employees who have unpaid wages, salaries, payment for work completed, and any other financial damages from their time at Vive Media.

Upon review and verification of employee applications, funds will be distributed via PayPal. Former employees may use the funds to their own discretion. Based on applications received, many of the funds will be used to pay down debt, bills, mortgage payments, replenish savings, medical bills, and other financial obligations that were affected during their time of employment at Vive Media.
