Vital Cancer Treatment for Leanne
Donation protected
You’ve been following Leanne’s story as she continues her battle with cancer. It’s painful for us to report that we’ve hit a major stumbling block. During a scheduled surgery it was discovered that a new and aggressive tumour has developed on her liver and is directly connected to the artery. This tumour is growing at an alarming rate and given it’s attached to and fed by this artery - it’s not possible to remove it surgically.
There is a ray of hope - a very specialised treatment called Selective Internal Radiation Therapy (SIRT) where microbeads of radioactive material are injected into the tumour in an attempt to destroy it from the inside out. But this is a very new form of treatment, is very expensive and is only funded for NHS use in 2 very specific cases.
We’re hoping for the best and that Leanne will qualify for NHS treatment - but we’ve been informed that there is a strong chance, given the nature of this tumour, that she may have to pay for this form of therapy - and that would cost £25,000…!
We have to prepare for her to get this treatment at short notice - and be prepared to pay for it. The speed at which this tumour is growing means that time is short and we need to start acting now.
Any help you can provide to help us get Leanne this treatment will be beyond appreciated. We’re sure you can understand what an emotional body blow it has been to discover this new tumour and how aggressive it is - but then imagine how it would feel to discover that it’s more than likely that you’ll have to pay for the only treatment that could help you?
We really need your help - and we need it now…!
